Rs 139.19 crore budget presented in JHADC

JOWAI: The Executive Member in charge Finance Department of the JHADC Joinriwell Pyrtuh presented a total budget estimate of Rs 139.19 crore on the opening day of the budget session of the council on Thursday.The EM in charge Finance informed the House that the estimated receipts of revenue from Council’s own sources is Rs 12.25 crore. “We are expecting that the share of revenue on royalty will be Rs 84 crore,” Pyrtuh said in his budget speech.Besides the share on royalty, the Council is also expected to get the Government grant of Rs 4294 crore.
He said that the Executive Committee is concerned over the serious financial impact being faced by the District Council due to the ban on extraction of coal and other minerals in the State.
He informed that the JHADC has received Rs 8.71 crore as share of royalty on major minerals out of Rs 44.69 crore and Rs 20.69 crore on minor minerals against Rs 21.89 crore during the financial year 2015-16. “The share of revenue on minerals from the state government will further dwindle pending the settlement of mining ban issues,” Pyrtuh stated.
In terms of grant in, the JHADC has received a total amount of Rs 1.8 crore only for construction of the District Council building.
He also informed that the Special Assistance of Rs 33. 57 crore has been received by the JHADC and the entire amount was credited to the District Council account on February 23.
