SHILLONG: The State government on Friday appointed acting DGP SB Singh as the full fledged DGP.
An official source confirmed that Singh (1986 batch) was appointed as the new DGP.
Earlier, the State Security Commission had shortlisted five names, and submitted the same to the Chief Minister Mukul Sangma for the final decision.
Besides Singh, other shortlisted candidates were Y.C Modi (1984 batch), P.S Purohit (1985 batch), R.P Agrawal (1986 batch), and Raghvendra Awasthi (1985 batch).
It was on October 30 last year that Singh, who was the additional DGP (law and order), took over as the acting DGP after another acting DGP S.K Jain retired.
