Abducted Assam driver escapes

TURA: A driver from Assam who was abducted by a kidnappers’ gang from Rongsu Rongrigittim village in South Garo Hills on March 23 has managed to escape after sustained police operations forced the perpetrators to flee.
Faruk Ali, driver of a JCB earthmover, who is from Assam’s Barpeta district, was abducted by armed men last week.
Police teams from West Khasi Hills, South and East Garo hills launched simultaneous flush-out operations in the region and managed to intercept a few members of the group who had come to collect the ransom money at a location near Williamnagar town.
Another operation at Seningkre area of west Khasi Hills compelled the abductors to abandon their victim and escape.
Ali was able to escape and slowly made his way back to Assam from where he informed his employer about his escape.
