Mizoram assembly Budget session adjourned

Aizawl: The ongoing session of Mizoram Legislative Assembly, which commenced from March 14 for presenting the state’s annual budget, was on Thursday adjourned sine die by Speaker Hiphei.
The state budget of Rs 8,803.10 crore for 2017-18 was passed during the session. State Finance minister Lalsawta presented the budget on March 16 along with the Supplementary Demands for Grants for 2016-17. Governor Lt General Nirbhay Sharma delivered his gubernatorial address in the on March 14.
A private resolution from a ruling legislator seeking separate a Mizoram cadre for all India services was adopted, while another private resolution moved by an opposition member seeking repeal of the Mizoram Liquor Prohibition and Control Act to be replaced by a stringent prohibition law, was rejected.
