New fuel station at Umran Dairy faces opposition

SHILLONG: Members of the Joint Action Committee of Social Organisations met KHADC leaders on Wednesday to voice their opposition to the construction of a petrol pump at Umran Dairy, Ri Bhoi.
A JACSO delegation along with residents of Umran Dairy on Wednesday met KHADC CEM P.N Syiem and Executive Member of Trade, N.A War to register their opposition to the construction of a new petrol pump at Umran Dairy.
A complaint was also filed at the Ri Bhoi deputy commissioner’s office on March 27.
The KHADC leaders assured the delegation that they will address the difficulties faced by the people.
JACSO has also sent memoranda to the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board and the National Green Tribunal.
JACSO includes CSWO Umran Dairy Unit, CSWO Central Body, Laban, Poor People’s Movement, Hynniewtrep Youth Movement and Ri Bhoi People’s Movement.
