SHILLONG: The District Council Affairs Department has recommended the Governor to fix the date of holding the election of the new CEM of GHADC on Monday.
An official source said on Friday that as the Governor is currently in Guwahati, the Raj Bhavan is yet to send any feedback to the proposal of the government.
The official said the election of the CEM will have to be held in the House as per the rule.
Earlier, even before facing no-confidence motion moved by the Congress, CEM Denang Sangma had resigned on Thursday.
The Congress is projecting the chairman of GHADC, Boston Marak, from NPP to the post of CEM.
