SHILLONG: The Mawtongtin Water Plus Project at Jakrem in South West Khasi Hills District was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of Basin Development Unit (BDU) R. Lyngdoh on March 30.
The programme was organised by the office of the Divisional Soil and Water Conservation, Mawkyrwat division, in collaboration with BDU.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Lyngdoh lauded the department for its efforts in making this convergence project a success. “This is a first of its kind in the history of Meghalaya where about 40 multiple water user households will benefit from it,” she added.
She also stressed on upgrading the project and called for support, cooperation and contribution from people.
