NONGPOH: Poor internet connectivity has stalled the Centre’s flagship VAHAN-4 e-governance application under the National Transport project. Several files were pending for weeks in the office of the District Transportation Officer in Ri Bhoi. Locals have voiced their concerns over unstable connectivity leading to delay in clearing files and harassment of applicants coming from remote areas.
District Transport Officer W. Makdoh and MVI E. Lyngdoh expressed their helplessness in fast-tracking work. “The Government has instructed us to use VAHAN – 4, the software application that accesses application through online mode, but due to unstable connectivity several public documents related to registration of vehicles and others were pending in the office,” said Makdoh.
Makdoh said his office has taken up the matter with BSNL but it is yet to restore connectivity.
“We are trying to give our level best in terms of services to local people, but due to unstable connectivity, the office cannot do anything as most of the files have to be access through Net,” he added.
