Shillong:To commemorate National Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Day, GVK EMRI – Meghalaya operations organised a free health camp in collaboration with Ricky Shullai, MDC of  Mawprem – Laban constituencies. The health camp was held at Lawsohtun Community Hall, Shillong, Meghalaya on Saturday.
Shullai presented certificates to the EMTs and appreciated their work in providing emergency medical care to the public.
The job of an EMT is multifaceted within an emergency environment like providing pre-hospital care at the scene and en-route to the hospital with an aim to save lives by utilising emergency care equipment, mobile communication and the ambulances. Currently GVK EMRI has more than twenty thousand EMTs on its roll, across the country where the108 service is operational of which ten percent are female EMTs. EMT day is an occasion to recognise, reward and appreciate their commitment towards the mission of saving lives.
