Inter District transfer for football players within MCA

SHILLONG: The Inter District Transfer for football players within the Meghalaya Football Association will commence from April 17 by sale of transfer forms. Players interested in seeking district transfer may contact their respective District Association or the Office of the Meghalaya Football Association for other details. Signing of transfer will be in the office from May 16 to May 22.

Madrassa School register win in inter-school cricket

SHILLONG: Madrassa School defeated Shillong Cricket Academy (SCA) by eight wickets in the Inter School Cricket League 2017 (Junior Category) played at cricket ground, Polo on Sunday. Electing to bat first, SCA were bundled out for 73 runs in 13.5 overs. Rohit Sarkar and and Ayush Sharma scored 12 runs and 15 runs respectively. For Madrassa, Afzal Hussain picked up six wickets including a hat-trick and Nisar Alam picked up two wickets. In reply, Madrassa School chased down the target with ease and scored 74 runs losing two wickets in 10.3 overs. Afzal Hussain and Md Siraj scored 25 runs and 16 runs respectively. Raghav Magotra and Sneil picked up a wicket each for SCA.

 

DD unlikely to get services of Mathews for better part

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Daredevils are unlikely to get the services of Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews for the better part of IPL as he is yet to recover fully from his hamstring injury. Mathews is not a part of the Sri Lankan T20 side that will host Bangladesh in a twomatch T20 series starting April 4 in Colombo. Apart from hamstrong injury, Mathews’ return will be delayed by calf strain. SLC is reluctant to release Mathews unless he has fully recovered because they would like him to be available for the Champions Trophy in the UK in June. (PTI)

BCCI announces IPL play-off venues

NEW DELHI: The three Play-offs of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) will not have any reserve days, the BCCI announced on Sunday. The first Qualifier is scheduled for May 16 in Mumbai while the second Qualifier will be played on May 19 in Bengaluru. Bengaluru will also host the Eliminator on May 19. The final, to be played on May 21 in Hyderabad, has May 22 as reserve day. The 10th edition of the League, starting April 5, will be broadcast on Sony Pictures Network. (PTI)
