Anomalies in MP scheme, NGO demands magisterial probe

SHILLONG: A pressure group from Garo Hills has demanded magisterial inquiry into misuse of MP scheme (both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha ) under C & R D Block, Selsella.
In a letter addressed to the West Garo Hills DC on Wednesday, the A’chik Youth Council demanded probe into the irregularities and non- completion of MPLAD scheme.
The AYC said that as per the RTI reply, Rs 3 lakh has been sanctioned during the year 2011-12 for construction of a school building at Rongsaigre (Phulbari) and the report manifests that the project was completed. “Interestingly, when we carried out site inspection, it was left incomplete and abandoned”, the AYC said.
The AYC also listed the incomplete projects which include construction of Shyamnagar collage building, Shyamnagar (Phulbari).
For the project, Rs 5 lakh has been sanctioned from MPLAD (Lok Sabha) scheme in the year 2011-12. As per the RTI report, the project has been completed.
Another project is the construction of a library building for Shyamnagar College for which Rs 5 lakh has been sanctioned from MPLAD (Rajya Sabha) scheme in the year 2011-12.
The pressure group also said that there is anomaly in the construction of RCC footpath with one cross drainage (culvert) from Phulbari Bazaar to Rongsaigre.
For this, Rs 1, 50,000 was sanctioned from MPLAD Lok Sabha in the year 20016-17. Another project is the construction of retaining wall at Phulbari Bazaar for which Rs 2 lakh was sanctioned from MPLAD (Lok Sabha) scheme in the year 2016-17
Other projects include construction of community latrine at Garobadha at the cost of Rs 50,000 from MPLAD (Lok Sabha) in the year 2011-12 and construction of community latrine at Mukdangra with Rs 50,000 sanctioned in the same year.
