SHILLONG: The Congress-led coalition is waiting for an opportune moment to form the next Executive Committee after the government notified the administrator’s rule in GHADC.
NPP leader Boston Marak, who is projected as the next leader by the Congress-led opposition, said his group would stake claim at an appropriate time.
Marak, who is still camping in Shillong, claimed the support of 16 MDCs in the House of 29 to form the next EC.
As the Meghalaya Governor is in Nagpur, the group led by Marak could not meet him in Raj Bhavan on Wednesday.
Other options before the group are to meet the South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Cyril V. Diengdoh, who has been appointed by the governor as the administrator of GHADC.
An official source, however, said the immediate task before the deputy commissioner will be to pass the GHADC budget as CEM Denang Sangma resigned before passing the budget.
Though the tenure of the administrator’s rule is maximum of six months, the formation of the Executive Committee can be any time depending on the numbers which the Congress-led opposition have.
