SHILLONG: The Meghalaya SSA Teachers’ Association (MSSASA) and the 4th Teachers’ Committee will take out a protest march on April 12, a statement released on Wednesday said.
The protest rally will also include members of the teachers’ families. The teachers’ bodies had given the Government time till March 31 to clear arrears, revise salary of 12,481 SSA teachers and payment hike for 1,521 4th teachers pending since 2013. The rally will start at 10 am from Jingkieng Nongthymmai and march to the Additional Secretariat building.
Earlier, H.M Marbaniang, chairman of the 4th Teachers’ Committee, had said the rally would be “different” as family members would join the protest against the Government’s apathy to fulfil their demands.
The teachers on Wednesday criticised the Government for the discrepancy in the results of the Diploma in Elementary Education and asked Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to come clear on when and how much the salary would be enhanced.
