SHILLONG: NPP national president Conrad Sangma is “sad” to hear that the MDCs were demanding a change of leadership in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) instead of thinking about development of the region.
“I feel that when you are elected it is not important who the leaders are. What is important is the overall development of people and Garo Hills,” Sangma told The Shillong Times on Wednesday. The statement came from Sangma after GHADC Chairman Boston Marak said on Tuesday the MDC wanted a change in leadership but NPP did not pay any heed leading to the present crisis in GHADC.
Reacting to a query about the strength of NPP in the Council, Sangma said there is no clarity over the matter and there are many MDCs who are in touch with NPP.
He also refused to comment anything on the imposition of administrator’s rule in GHADC.
Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Tuesday had approved the State Cabinet’s decision to impose administrator’s rule in GHADC.
