‘Two-lane Nongstoin- Mawthabah project for connectivity’

SHILLONG: The KHADC has sought time to respond to clarifications sent by the Chief Engineer PWD (Roads) National Highway that stated that improving connectivity was the sole purpose of upgrading the two lanes stretching from Nongstoin-Wahkaji-Domiasiat-Mawthabah.
The PIL filed by Joint Action Committee on two lanes road, Nongstoin was again heard by the High Court on Wednesday.
Earlier on July 27, the Chief Engineer, PWD had stated clearly that the purpose of constructing the road was essentially to provide connectivity and ensure all round development of the area and that the road should not be linked to any particular activity.
The Court allowed the KHADC to file another affidavit and the matter will be heard after two weeks.
