78,000 applicants for 2,550 posts in police

SHILLONG: The State government will recruit as many as 2,550 police personnel in various posts despite its financial crunch.
There were 78,000 applicants for the vacant posts and they have already appeared for the running and the written tests.
Senior police official and chairman of the central recruitment board H. Nongpluh said there is good response from the youth and added that the recruitment process is transparent and there was no room for any influence from any quarters.
The official said last year the government created over 1,700 posts for SF-10, but some posts could not be filled up and hence the current applications were called for the remaining 686 posts.
