SHILLONG: Denying allegations that he was instrumental in toppling the NPP-led EC of GHADC over the Garo Customary Bill, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said he does not have time for this.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, the chief minister said the Garo Customary Bill was passed long time back and the government did not even interfere with the passing of the Bill when he was the deputy chief minister and currently as the chief minister.
After the Garo Customary Bill, which defines a Garo person as an off-spring of both Garo parents, was passed recently, GHADC CEM Denang Sangma resigned.
“On the day when the CEM resigned, I was told that he resigned because his wife forced him to do so,” the chief minister said, indirectly hinting that Denang’s wife is not a Garo.
Asked about the views of NPP leader Conrad Sangma that he wanted more discussion on the Bill, the chief minister asked media persons to find out who is the wife of Conrad.
Sangma said he had no role in the GHADC affairs and pointed out that after the last GHADC polls in 2015, he did not interfere with the formation of EC led by NPP.
