Dry day
The Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi, has informed that all IMFL retail shops, bars in hotels, bonded warehouses, bottling units, country made spirit shops, outstills, breweries, canteens will remain closed in the district on Friday, on account of Good Friday.

PDF meetings
The Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) will hold two meetings at West Khasi Hills District on April 19 and April 21, at Bishop Hall, New Nongstoin and at Madan Rambrai under Mawshynrut Constituency, respectively at 11 am.

Secy resigns
Joy Rynjah, has resigned from the post of Secretary of Laban Dorbar Shnong with effect from April 1. The locals can contact the headman of Laban in case of emergency.

KSU election
The election committee of KSU will hold an election for KSU, West Khasi Hills District Unit for the year 2017 – 2020 on May 5 at Nongstoin. Nomination forms will be available at Jaiaw office from 10:00 am 5:00 pm. The last day of submission is April 20.

Boating competition
A boating competition will be organised at Umngot River on April 19 from 10:30 am – 4 pm.

Tribute programme
Members of Bangiyo Sahitya Parishad, Shillong will pay tribute to musician and researcher late Kalikaprasad Bhattacharjee on April 14 at 5.30 pm on the Parishad premises.

New Year celebration
The Shillong Bengalee Yuba Chatra Parishad will organise a cultural get-together to welcome the Bengalee New Year 1424. The programme will be held at the Bangiyo Sahitya Parishad, Jail Road, Shillong on April 16 from 3:30 pm.
