‘Lover’ confesses to killing WKH woman

NONGSTOIN: A 24-year-old man has been arrested for murdering a 22-year-old woman whose decomposed body was found on March 26.
Melvin Sohlangpiaw of Pyndengrei village in West Khasi Hills told police that he was in love with Daritngen Syiem of Siejlieh village and he killed her around 7pm on February 19 following a heated argument.
The woman’s body was found under the sand on the bank of the Umpniang river between the two villages.
Sohlangpiaw was arrested on Friday afternoon from Klangrin village in West Khasi Hills. He is in five-day police custody.
People of Nongstoin have lauded the police for arresting the accused.
