Heat wave menace across Rajasthan; Churu hottest at 46.5 degrees

Jaipur: Heatwave conditions continued to affect normal life in Rajasthan on Friday, with Churu sizzling at a maximum temperature of 46.5 degrees Celsius.
It is the highest temperature for Churu since 2010, which recorded a maximum of 46.4 degrees on April 16 that year. Even the minimum of 30.8 degrees Celsius was high for the city.
In major part of the desert state, the mercury hovered between 40 and 46 degrees Celsius. The minimum too was above normal.
Pilani recorded a high of 44.6 degrees Celsius while Sri Ganganagar scorched at 44.3 degrees.
State capital Jaipur witnessed a high of 43.3 degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal. The night temperature in Jaipur was 30.7 degrees, which is seven degrees above normal.
Kota sizzled at 44.3 degrees and Bikaner at 43.6. The desert town of Jaisalmer too was hot at 43.5 degrees Celsius.
Temperatures are likely to hover around these levels in Rajasthan in the next 24 hours, the Met office said.
“Weather is likely to remain dry in Rajasthan. The heatwave is likely to continue at a few places in the state in the next 24 hours,” a Meteorological Department official told IANS. (IANS)
