SHILLONG: An army jawan was arrested in connection with the rape of a 14-year-old girl after he surrendered to Madanrting police on Friday.
With the arrest of the rifle man from 58 GTC, identified as Sagar, the number of arrests in the high-profile case is 19.
So far, three persons — Edmund Kharir, manager of Marvelene’s Inn, Wanlambok Khongsit alias Jhandu and Bahadur Thapa — have got bail.
Mawhati legislator Julius Dorphang was also arrested in the minor’s rape and trafficking case.
