Central Award
The East Khasi Hills DC has informed that the Ministry of Home Affairs has instituted the “Jeevan Raksha Padak Series of Award, 2017” for meritorious acts of humane nature in saving the life of a person in incidents like drowning, accidents, fire incidents, electrocution, landslides, animal attack and rescue operation in mines etc. The awards– Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak, Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak and and Jeevan Raksha Padak, are given to a rescuer for saving someone’s life.
Prohibition
To protect the river Myntdu from being polluted, the District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills, has issued an order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting dumping of waste, solid or liquid, in Myntdu River. The District Magistrate has also ordered immediate closure of quarries located upstream of the Myntdu river.
Skill training
The Shillong Municipal Board will organise a one day mobilization camp for skill training under Employment through Skills Training & Placement component of National Urban Livelihoods Mission at 11 am at Don Bosco Hall, Laitumkhrah on April 28. The Employment through Skills Training & Placement (EST&P) component under NULM is designed to provide skills to the unskilled urban poor as well as to upgrade their existing skills.
Seng Samla programme
The closing ceremony of the programme organized Seng Samla Mawlai Nonglum will be held at Iew Nonglum basketball ground at 6 pm on April 22.

The draft rules regarding the Cantonments Property Rules, 2017 (Published vide Government of India, Ministry of Defence Notification S.R.O 5(E) both in English and Hindi is available at the office of the Cantonment Board Shillong for the general public of Shillong Cantonment.
