Pune, Apr 22 (UNI) Silencing his critics, MS Dhoni blasted a 34-ball 61 to guide Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) home against Sunrisers Hyderabad in a nail-biting Indian Premier League (IPL) clash at the MCA Stadium here this evening.
Hosts Pune, chasing a healthy 177 for victory, needed 62 runs off the last five overs and Dhoni once again showed why he is still the best when it comes to finish things off.
The issue became more exciting as the match went into the last ball with the hosts needing couple of runs and the former RPS skipper smashed a brilliant boundary to help his team register a memorable victory and jump to the fourth spot in the IPL points table.
Chasing a good total, Pune received the first blow with just 15 runs on board in 3.1 overs as Bipul Sharma sent back inform Ajinkya Rahane on just two runs.
However, opener Rahul Tripathy and skipper Steve Smith repaired the damage after forging a 72-runs stand for the second wicket.
