Shillong: Garo National Council (GNC) held its annual conference at Sibbari, the birthplace of its then departed President Late Clifford R. Marak.
The council elected new office bearers for the Central Executive Committee headquarters at Tura. Wife of late Clifford Marak, Kalpana D.Sangma was elected as President, former deputy CEM and Silkigre MDC Augustine R.Marak and Haringston R. Marak were elected as vice-president. Henysing A. Sangma was elected as General Secretary. Lukas T. Sangma and Paul Sangma were elected as joint general secretary. MDC Amongpara Constituency Jinbirth Marak and MDC Rongrikim constituency Winison Ch Marak were elected as organising secretary while Vanisha D.Sangma was elected as accountant cum treasurer. They also elected 18 executive members to the party.
