State police team to visit Bengal to trace sex racket accused

SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills police is planning to depute a team of officers to hunt for Sudhir Kumar Paul (Professor Roy), an accused in the rape of a 14-year-old girl.
The East Khasi Hills police, in the last week of February, issued a lookout notice for Paul to the SP of North 24 Parganas (Barasat) in West Bengal as the accused is a resident of Bizpur in North 24 Parganas.
A police official said a team will be sent to West Bengal to trace the accused.
There are more than 20 persons who are involved in the sex racket case.
The police had effected the 19th arrest in the case on Friday after a rifleman of 58 GTC identified as Sagar surrendered before the police.
Police are also on a hunt for another army man who had sexually abused the girl.
There are also a few others who are yet to be arrested by the police.
Based on the statement of the girl, several FIRs were filed and many people, including Mawhati MLA Julius Dorphang, were arrested in the past.
Eralier this week, two accused in the case, Wanlambok Khonsgit (Jhandu) and Madan Bahadur Thapa, walked out of Shillong jail after they secured bail.
