Dhar lays base for Wapung C&RD Block

JOWAI: Minister for Community and Rural Development Sniawbhalang Dhar laid the foundation stone for Wapung C&RD Block at Wapungskur on Saturday.
The Waheh Shnong of Wapungskur, Satly Ryngkhlem, has informed that the Dorbar Shnong of Wapungskur and Wapungshnong has jointly donated 5 acres of land to the Government for setting up the new block office.
The C&RD Minister who attended the ceremony as the chief guest informed that the Wapung C&RD Block is the relocation and renamed of one of the oldest C&RD Block of the state, Khliehriat C&RD Block.
“C&RD Block is for the benefit of the rural populace and since Khliehriat has now become the District headquarters of East Jaintia Hills, it is compulsory to relocate and re-christen the block. I hope the block will benefit the rural population in the area,” the Minister said.
Local MLA Justine Dkhar who was the guest of honour expressed his gratitude to all officers who has helped him fulfil the dream of the people of his Constituency.
He urged the Government to expedite the construction of the office building and other infrastructure.
Others who spoke on the occasion were C&RD Director I. Sangma, Waheh Shnong of Wapungshnong, Gliter Rymbai, ADC, KL Nongbri, Deputy Commissioner, EJH beside others.
