SHILLONG: The Mawryngkneng and Shillong Mihngi Circles of KSU have filed an FIR against an operator of Mawpdang-Mawkhanu toll gate for allegedly employing illegal immigrants.
In the FIR, which was filed on Saturday at Mawdiandiang police outpost, KSU members stated that a firm, Nandini Takukdar Private Company Limited, operating the Mawpdang-Mawkhanu toll gate is taking in illegal immigrants and labourers from outside the State without necessary work permit.
On Saturday, they conducted an inspection to check work permits and found that the company employed illegal migrants who do not possess valid papers.
In this connection, KSU said it contravened the Meghalaya Inter State Workmen (Regulation of employment and condition of service (Amendment) Rules, 2011).
In a press statement, the organisation said it has informed the Labour Inspector of Mawryngkneng C&RD Block to inspect the toll gate. The organisation has urged necessary action against the firm.
