SHILLONG: Leaders of the United Democratic Party (UDP) will meet party president Donkupar Roy on Monday to discuss the decision of the Central Executive Committee on the rebel MDCs, its working president Bindo Lanong said.
Lanong said showcause notices will be issued to the four MDCs – Donkupar Sumer and Albinus Lyngdoh, who are executive members of the KHADC, Teinwell Dkhar, Parliamentary Party leader of UDP in the KHADC, and Equator Nongrang.
The four MDCs have extended support to the P.N Syiem-led coalition in the Council despite the UDP central body’s decision on April 17 to withdraw support over allegations of embezzlement.
In a letter to Syiem, the four MDCs had stated that it was a convention that was put forth by Lanong who supported then CEM of KHADC, HS Shylla, on the ground that the party cannot interfere in an MDC’s decision as the District Council is an autonomous body. Lanong had hit back saying they should provide evidence.
