SHILLONG: The former East Khasi Hills deputy commissioner, Sanjay Goyal, who is one of the government witnesses in connection with the damage suit of over Rs 31 crore filed by the government against those who sponsored the agitation over ILP, did not turn up for hearing on Tuesday.
The case filed against 14 pressure groups was taken up by the Special Court for gathering evidence from government witnesses.
Among the pressure groups, All India Garo Union (AIGU) president Elbarth Marak and others were present during the hearing of the case.
“Since the government witness did not turn up, the case was deferred,” Advocate K. Sunar, the counsel of AIGU, said.
Earlier on March 22, former East Khasi Hills police chief M. Kharkrang was cross-examined.
