Mumbai, Apr 26 (PTI) Bollywood playback singer Sonu Nigam, who kicked up a controversy by criticising religious sermons aired on loudspeakers, said the time had come to bury the matter and move on. There was no need to “fuel” the issue any more, he tweeted. “Guys, in favour of me and in opposition, let’s agree to agree and disagree. No need to fuel this anymore. Look ahead and move on. Prayers,” Nigam said. On Sunday, Nigam, 43, posted a video recording of a call for morning prayers on Twitter. The singer captioned the video as, “Good morning, India”. The singer had recently described loud sermons as hooliganism and criticised the use of loudspeakers in shrines in a series of tweets, following which a fatwa was issued against him by a Kolkata-based cleric. Following the controversy, Nigam had stressed that his tweets were against the use of loudspeakers in all shrines and not aimed at any particular religion. PTI
