Persistent drizzle washes out key IPL tie between SRH, RCB

Bengaluru, Apr 25 (UNI) The crucial IPL tie between Bengaluru Royal Challenges and Sunrisers Hyderabad, staged at M Chinnaswamy Stadium here today, was declared washed out due to persistent drizzle in the Garden City, and the two teams left disapointed sharing a point each.
Third placed Sunrisers wanted a win today to ensure their path to the second stage, in the cash rich T-20 tournment, while the local side RCB had to resurrect its way after being at the boottom of the 8-team league table.
But the nature Gods put paid to the aspirations of both the teams and they were left to share a point each.
The match was expected to be an humdinger with RCB trying to bounce back after being dismissed to a record low of 49 all out against Kolkata Knight Riders two days ago, and the David Warner’s men, the holders, losing close battle when M S Dhoni fired for Pune on the even days, ago.
But as expected, on a sultry Tuesday, it drizzled in some parts of the city and mainly in the central business district coming under the KSCA stadium. After a couple of inspections from the umpires, the officials declared that the match being abandoned and each team garnering one point each.
With this RCB meandered to 5 points from eight games with just two wins, and Sunrisers to 9 points from equal number of games. This left Gujarat Lions with just two wins and four points to grace the bottom of the table.

The much awaited match with over 20,000 die hard crowd, still rooting for RCB after its disastrous campaign in the current campaign, ended with not a ball being bowled and all disapointed. UNI
