SHILLONG: The KSU’s Mawphu unit, along with para legal volunteer Etorien Wanroi, has opposed a scheduled public hearing at Dainthlen on environmental impact assessment for the 85MW Mawphu Stage II power project in May.
In a representation to the NEEPCO CMD, Wanroi pointed out that Dainthlen does not fall under the affected area as far as the project is concerned.
The KSU too questioned the holding of the public hearing at a place far from the project site.
The work on the 85MW Stage II Mawphu hydel power project may start in October. A few months ago, NEEPCO CMD A.G West Kharkongor, along with a company official met Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to hold discussions on the project.
