A local court of  Aurangabad has issued a Non-Bailable Warrant against filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma and producer Ronnie Screwvala in connection with a copyright violation case of 2009 which was filed by the Siddiqui Mustaq Mushin resident of Nutan colony of city.

In his petition he claimed that the film Agyaat, directed by Varma and produced by Screwvala, released in August 2009, was based on a story written by him. Judicial Magistrate KK Kurandale issued the NBW after Mushin’s lawyer Pradeep Walujkar pointed out that Varma had not responded to the summons that were served to him since the last two years.

The court posted the matter for hearing on May 31.

”Varma had been making offbeat films and as such I wrote a story and sent it to him through post but received no reply. ”In 2009 when the film ‘Agyaat’ was released, I was shocked to see that it was based on my story,” the petition mentioned.

However, the court posted the matter for hearing on May 31, 2017. (UNI)
