NGT ban violation
Umiam Police detained two trucks (AS-01-FC-9351 & AS-01-FC-9352) at Ladumsaw around 1pm on April 26 for transporting coal in excess of the permissible limit.
On the same day, police detected two overloaded coal trucks (ML-10A-6087 and ML-04A-2376) driven by Rishmon Jet and Hamwis Thubru respectively, at Phramer in West Jaintia Hills.
Earlier on April 25, Umiam Police detained two trucks (AS-01-OC-2116 & AS-01-CC-8256) at Ladsharai for transporting coal in excess of permissible limit without challan and vehicle documents but the drivers and handymen of the trucks fled from the spot. Ri Bhoi SP R Singh informed that as of now 290 trucks have been detained in the district following the crackdown on trucks carrying coal in violation of the NGT order.

Bangladeshi arrested, cattle seized
BSF troops deployed at Umsiyem, East Khasi Hills nabbed a Bangladeshi national at International Border while he was trying to sneak back into the neighbouring country. The arrested person has been identified as Md. Noor Miyan (35 yrs) of Sylhet, Bangladesh. In two more incidents, the BSF troops deployed at Gopinathkila, South West Garo Hills and Purkhasia, West Garo Hills seized 24 cattle while they were being smuggled to Bangladesh.

Fraud
Wing Commander Jaideep Singh of HQ EAC, IAF, Upper Shillong lodged a complaint that on April 25, transaction of Rs. 8,664 was made from his credit card without his knowledge.

Money debited
On April 20, one Shiraj Rabha received a phone call from an unknown person claiming to be an SBI official from Shillong and asked for his ATM details. After the ATM details were provided to the anonymous caller, the complainant found that an amount of Rs. 65,389 was withdrawn from his account.

Sexual assault
A 21-year-old girl in a village in West Khasi Hills was sexually assaulted by one Brolly Marngar. According to police the incident took place around 7.30pm on April 21.

Theft cases
Sanjeev Sharma lodged a complaint that on April 26 morning, unknown miscreants stole one car stereo with woofer and a bag containing documents, personal items and clothes from a Maruti Eeco (ML-05M-5400) which was parked near Cantonment BH, Shillong.
Wanshwa M Nongkhlaw lodged a complaint on April 26 that he caught one Sameer Sutradhar while he was stealing a car tape from his vehicle (ML-05C-0255) which was parked at Lower Lumparing.
On April 25, unknown miscreants stole one tyre and rim valued around Rs. 3,500 from a Maruti Alto-800 (ML-06-8388) belonging to Baksiful Marwein at Khliehiew Nongstoin (WKH).
Shantilang Kharsohnoh of Mawlai Mawiong lodged a complaint that on April 25 around 10 pm, unidentified miscreants entered her house and stole cash Rs. 1.80 lakh and gold jewelries weighing 5½ tolas.
On the night of April 24, unknown miscreants broke into Sacred Heart Secondary School, Mawlyndep in West Khasi Hills and stole coins valued around Rs. 2,500.
Jubi Das lodged a complaint that on April 26 around 2 pm, one unidentified person stole her purse from her backpack near M/s Hallmark at Police Bazar. In this connection, one 16-year-old boy was apprehended.
