SHILLONG: Nongkrem MDC HS Shylla has threatened to move the High Court if information regarding the Special Assistance Grant scheme of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) is not provided to him by Friday.
Shylla, who was annoyed that other MDCs are distributing work orders, said he had written two letters to the secretary of the KHADC Executive Committee on April 14 seeking information about a Rs 1.12-crore scheme, which has been approved by the Government, and a Rs 3-crore scheme, which is yet to be proposed to the Government.
On April 24, a letter from the office of the secretary asked Shylla to send names of the local committee members, or the name of the managing committee or a contractor for implementing the scheme. However, the UDP MDC was shocked to find out that the headmen from Nongkrem  constituency had already sent the resolution with regard to the schemes sanctioned.
He added that the headmen took the work order from the KHADC on Thursday.
Shylla stated that while the KHADC EC secretary directed him to send his recommendations, Council CEM PN Syiem distributed the work order to the headmen on Thursday.
Stating that he has nothing against the CEM for distributing the work order to the headmen, Shylla questioned as to why the EC secretary directed him to send recommendations.
On calling the secretary regarding the issue, she informed him that she was not aware of the distribution of the work order.
Referring to the Rs 133 crore special assistance schemes, Shylla said that the public ought to know the pattern of distribution of the scheme.
