International Dance Day celebrated
SHILLONG: The Ministry of Dance (MOD), a private dance and fitness institute based in Shillong, showed off their dance moves while performing in five different schools in the city on Friday. Speaking to The Shillong Times, director MOD, Satbir Singh said that the dance performances are part of their observation of International Dance Day which is celebrated globally on April 29. “Tomorrow is International Dance Day so we from the Ministry of Dance (MOD) and the children have been performing from 7: 30 in the morning in Army School, Dwar jinkyrmen, Loreto School, KJP School and Synod School,” he added. Singh said that over 30 students have participated and the children are from different schools. He said, “One of the purposes is to make the youth especially small children to stay away from junk food”. They should be encouraged to eat locally grown organic food. After Higher Secondary, Singh went to Bengaluru, where he trained under a German dance teacher.

American Heart Association BLS & ACLS Training
SHILLONG: The emergency response agency GVK EMRI organised a two-day American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training at its Emergency Medicine Learning Center Institute in Shillong from April 27 to 29. As many as 50 participants from various hospitals including Nazareth Hospital, NEIGRIHMS medical college and hospital and Downtown Hospitals took part in the training.  The training emphasised on the current guidelines on Essential Cardiac Care and Resuscitation concepts. The AHA 2015 Guidelines were introduced and this is the first batch to have received this updated training in Meghalaya. A certification ceremony was held after the training for the participants.
