SHILLONG: The Bharat Sevashram Sangha (BSS), a philanthropic and spiritual organisation dedicated to the service of the nation, will celebrate the centenary of its foundation year and service to the cause of nation building and humanity.
Accordingly, it plans to commemorate the event by organising a street pageant with the “Maha Jagran Rath” that would arrive in Shillong after completing its nationwide journey on May 6.
The Rath (chariot) in lead is expected to reach Shillong around 10.00am and shall have as accompaniment about 100 small vehicles and a cavalcade of a hundred motorcycles.
This multicultural street pageant will finally culminate at Jail Road after passing through Gharikhana, Civil Hospital, Laban, Rilbong, Barik, Malki, Dhanketi etc.
A sizeable number of devotees, followers and well-wishers of BSS and its sister organisations are expected to participate in the event.
Swami Purnabratananda, Assistant Secretary, Shillong Branch said that this will be followed by a formal commemoration of the event to be organised at the Aurobindo Institute of Indian Culture Auditorium, Bivar Road, on May 7.
