Inquiry ordered into pollution caused by brick factory

SHILLONG: The Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and the Chairman of State Pollution Control Board have been asked to inquire into the pollution caused by a brick factory at Jatrokona, Gasuapara, South Garo Hills.
The order came from the Joint Secretary, Forest and Environment after a complaint was lodged in this regard by the All India Garo Union (AIGU). Earlier, in a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the AIGU said that the factory set up in 2013 (Contd on P-10)

(Contd from P-3) belonging to Kartush Marak is functioning without any environment clearance from NGT and has affected the health of the nearby residents and the factory workers.
The AIGU had also sent copies of the complaint to NGT and Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board.
