Guwahati:  Environmental experts from across the globe will have threadbare discussion at the United Nations soon on the reports and other documents prepared by the students of city-based NPS International School, among others, to combat climate change and other global environmental issues.

Apart from trying to create awareness among the masses for a green society, students of the school are also working tirelessly to make its entire school building and environment clean and green over the years.
For  promoting UN Global Sustainable Goals through education in the academic year of 2016-17, GEAERD, a unique educational platform of global repute, has awarded NPS International School, the Global Sustainable School Award (Gold Category) in a function held in New Delhi recently.
GEAERD (Global Educators Association for Educational Research and Development) has also decided to forward all the awards and documents relating to its fight against international environmental issues to the UN, the Global Goals and Round Table Global, a press release from NPS school said here on Wednesday.
Students of the school have launched a campaign to enable a sustainable built environment for all and facilitate India to be one of the global leaders in the sustainable built environment by 2025.
The students of the school are also trying their best to make the entire school building and its environment green.
Recognising their effort for a clean and green society, NPS International School was also awarded with the Green School Platinum Award 2016 during Green Building Congress 2016, an international conference and exhibition on Green Building and Built Environment, in Mumbai in the month of October last year.
“It is good news for the students that the details of the award and the documents submitted by them along with the projects will be forwarded to the experts in UN, the Global Goals and Round Table Global by GEAERD,” Probhati Biswas, Principal of the school, said.
The theme of the GEAERD awards this year was on “Sustainable Development” wherein hundreds of schools which are functioning around congruent areas sent their entries for assessment, out of which 28 finest ones were selected by the Jury members under Gold and Silver categories.
Apart from NPS, some other prominent schools which were awarded with Gold medals include Sunrise English Private Senior Secondary School, Abu Dhabi; MAR Athanasius International School, Ernakullam, Kerala; SOS Hermann Gmeiner School, Varanasi, UP; Indian School, Muscat, Oman; Al Manahil Private School, Abu Dhabi; Sri Venkateshwar International School, Delhi.
