Govt digitises PDS beneficiaries’ data

SHILLONG: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs RC Laloo said on Wednesday digitalisation of beneficiaries’ data and computerised system of supply chain management have been taken up for effective management of PDS.
Inaugurating the one-day state-level programme to create awareness on the implementation of the National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013, here, Laloo said the Government will ensure food security in the State.
The functioning of the State Food Commission is to provide food and nutritional security by ensuring access to adequate amount of quality food at affordable prices, he said.
District and Sub Divisional Grievances Redressal mechanism have been set up in all the districts and sub divisional headquarters and toll free number 1967 has been put in place for complaints.
The programme was organised by the Meghalaya State Food Commission in collaboration with the Directorate of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.
