SHILLONG: The number of suicides committed by the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel has gone down in the last few years and the border guarding force is now targeting to completely eliminate the concern. Talking to media persons here on Friday, BSF Director General, K.K. Sharma said that 45 BSF personnel had committed suicide in the year 2014, however, the number has gone down to 26 last year and the Force aims to reduce it further.
Stating that the BSF personnel are being encouraged to go for yoga, he said that they are undergoing stress management courses in the Force. Sharma informed that the personnel are also being shown short movies about positivity along with their families. “Most of the suicides are related to domestic stress and not to work related stress,” the DG said, adding that most of the suicides in the Force take places after jawans comes back from their holidays.
