SHILLONG: Arts and Culture Minister Ronnie Lyngdoh left a programme organised by his own department on the occasion of the 156th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore at State Central Library on Tuesday after the officials of the department came late.
When contacted, the Minister said, “I was invited but since I had other prior engagements, I could not confirm (the participation). But in order to honour Rabindranath Tagore… I attended the function but when I saw that they were not ready and since I had other engagements so I left.”
“That is one point why I left because when they say 3:30 (pm), the programme should start on the dot at 3:30 (pm),” he added.
It may be mentioned that the programme schedule mentioned the time as 3.30 pm. However, the workers were found drudging on the lighting and other tasks during that particular time. The programme started around 4.45 pm.
