Kolkata, May 16 (UNI) India’s largest banking institution, the State Bank of India (SBI) today announced that its ATMs were not affected by the Ransomware ‘WannaCry’ threats.
Announcing this SBI, Kolkata circle chief general manager Partha Pratim Sengupta said that the virus attack did not have any impact on the banking services as it has a special technological system specially designed for the purpose.
He said SBI customers, including ATM using clients, should not get affected with the rumors doing the round.
So far, no case of any virus affecting the system was registered, Mr Sengupta added.
However, efforts were on to ensure foolproof security to its customers across the country by implanting a special patch devise to its central system which monitors ATMs.
“If the device cannot be implanted from the back room or central system then each and every ATM will have such devices to protect customers and this would not affect the services at all,” Mr Sengupta said.
SBI has about 3,200 ATMs across the state. UNI
