Roads closed as bridges washed away in SWGH

Ampati: Two subway bridges, one at Gopinathkilla and the other at Bakdagre near Mahendraganj in South West Garo Hills, were completely washed away on Sunday morning following incessant rains throughout the night.
As a result, the Garobadha-Dalu (NH 51) road and Purakhasia-Mahendraganj road were closed for vehicular traffic till the completion of restoration work, informed AEE, PWD (Roads), Mahendraganj Sub-Division.
The closure was necessitated in the interest of the general public to speed up the restoration process for conveyance of travelers and rescue and delivery of relief materials to the affected families.
