NONGPOH: The Syiems of Raid Nongtluh have threatened to take back the land that they donated for construction of a government residential school following inordinate delay in the project.
The clan had voluntarily given 26 acre to the Education Department for the construction of the residential school at Nongrim Synjai in Umling C&RD Block in Ri Bhoi. The foundation stone for the Rs 2.5crore project was laid by D.D Lapang on February 19, 2015.
The representative of the Syiem clan of Raid Nongtluh, C.B Syiem, told The Shillong Times that the clan had expressed its discontentment over the delay in implementing the project and decided to distance themselves from the project.
The UDP’s Ri Bhoi unit had recently raised concern over the delay in the project but the Government has not commented on it so far.
