SHILLONG: The Centre on Thursday clarified that e-Aadhaar is valid and secure.
In a statement, the deputy director of logistics in the Ministry of IT and Electronics said downloaded Aadhaar card with details like name, address, gender, photo and date of birth of the card holder is similar to a printed one.
An e-Aadhaar also shows the dates when it was generated and downloaded. The downloaded Aadhaar is a digitally signed document by UIDAI as per the IT Act, 2000.
The statement also said e-Aadhaar is acceptable everywhere as identity proof.
