SHILLONG: UDP MDC HS Shylla has called for a pre-poll alliance of all regional parties including UDP, HSPDP and KHNAM.
He maintained that unity among the regional parties is the need of the hour at a time when the Congress has been ruling for long and the BJP was yet to gain much ground in the State.
Calling upon the regional parties to grab the opportunity and work together to uproot corruption from the State, he said it is time the home grown parties rule the State again.
Earlier, HSPDP president Ardent Basaiawmoit had made a suggestion that one regional party should not field candidates in constituencies where another regional party has a chance to win. This according to him will help the regional parties to form the next government.
