BHOPAL: In the second instance of its kind, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Madhya Pradesh unit on Friday expelled the media in-charge of its Scheduled Castes Morcha for being a member of a sex racket, BJP sources said.
The action was taken against Neeraj Shakya whose appointment was announced just four days back.
The police team also rescued four girls, one of whom is from Meghalaya, two from Maharashtra and another from Panna in Madhya Pradesh.
The Cyber Crime Cell personnel apprehended nine members of a gang from an apartment in an upscale colony here.
The accused were running a sex racket through an escort service website, police said. “On a tip-off, a cyber crime cell team raided a flat in Arera Colony late on Thursday night and arrested nine persons. The team also rescued four girls,” SP (cyber cell) Shailendra Singh Chouhan said.
The accused targeted the girls from profiles uploaded on job portals, he said.
“They lured the girls by offering jobs as hotel receptionists and call centre executives. They preferred under-educated girls from poor background. The customers were introduced to these girls as ‘relationship managers’ who will ensure jobs for them,” he said.
Shillong Police, however, added that they have not received any information about the incident from Bhopal police so far.
Apart from 33-year-old Shakya, other arrested accused are Dinesh alias David (23), Suresh Gehlot (33), Ravi Prajapati (26), Harjeet Dhanwani (26), Manoj Gupta (39), Krishnakumar Jaiswal (21), Suresh Belani (30) and Miswauddin (22). Another person, Subhash alias Vir Dwivedi, is absconding.
Earlier, the saffron party’s IT Cell office-bearer Dhruv Saxena was sacked after he was arrested for assisting Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence agents through the medium of a parallel phone exchange. (Agencies)
