SHILLONG/NEWDELHI: Cabinet Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on Monday received a show cause notice from the Congress disciplinary committee seeking his response to the ‘anti-party’ activities.
Dhar said he is yet to reply to the show cause notice since he received it only on Monday.
In Delhi, MPCC president D.D Lapang discussed with Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, who arrived from Belgium on Monday, on whether Dhar should be dropped from the Cabinet.
The Power Minister wanted to field his brother-in-law from Jowai constituency for the 2018 elections which is currently represented by Deputy Chief Minister R.C Laloo.
The Jowai Block Congress Committee had complained to the State leadership against Dhar and sought his removal from the Cabinet post.
Dhar maintained that there was nothing wrong to project anyone seeking party candidacy from any constituency.
However, sources said senior Congress leaders wanted action against Dhar.
Though Lapang had not received any report from the District Congress Committee, he is likely to go by the report of the Block, based on which action may be taken against Dhar.
