SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) ordered an inquiry into the results leak on Tuesday.
The results of 20 toppers of SSLC were leaked on social media on Monday night, a day before the official declaration of the results. Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, Executive Chairman of the Board Pravin Bakshi said the inquiry will be conducted by Education Secretary Walpeter Roy Lyngdoh to examine all aspects of the online leakage, fix responsibilities and suggest corrective measures.
Bakshi added that the inquiry report will be submitted within 10 days.
Maintaining that the SSLC results were in no way compromised or vitiated, Bakshi said SSLC and HSSLC (Arts) results were finalised on May 18 and preparatory steps were being taken to publish the results as per the scheduled time.
Replying to a query, the executive chairman said as per the preliminary report, unaffiliated websites got the results from an authorised source and the leaking of the merit list was attributed to a technical glitch.
At the same time, he said marks were not tampered with. The results and database were shared with the affiliated website of the Board only 10-15 minutes before the scheduled declaration of the results after taking all security measures, he informed.
Stating that entire case comes under the ambit of cyber crime, Bakshi added that at this juncture, there is no lead that says the results were leaked from MBoSE but inquiry into the matter will reveal further details.
In the past, MBoSE was in the news for question paper leak which, however, was stopped for the last many years due to the fool-proof measures initiated by the Board.
